Hiking and trekking in the Utsjoki area and Nuorgam is a wonderful experience, as there is plenty of terrain for hiking in the area. Day routes in Nuorgam include the trail starting from the top of Isonkivenvaara to Skaidijärvi lake, where there is a lean-to shelter. The fairly easy Skaidijärvi trail starts about a kilometer from Nuorgam and is 5.8 km long. In Utsjoki, the routes start from the village and the church.
